Soonchild

We got the opportunity to watch some live theatre when we watched a performance called Soonchild, this performance contained elements of acting, live music, puppetry and sign language. The piece itself was engaging because of these different elements however you could tell it was aimed at a younger audience due to some of the language but the message they were conveying was an important one that impacts the younger generation the most.

In my opinion the best piece of puppetry they had in the performance was the polar bear which was made up of a head and a paw yet still conveyed the essence and power of a whole polar bear. The mechanisms used to move and hold up the head were also fascinating to learn about as it was adapted from a backpack used for carrying babies. Their use of shadow puppetry was also very effective and was great for conveying the more eccentric parts of the story.
