Fantastically Great Women

Whilst in Liverpool I went to watch Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World based on the book by Kate Pankhurst. The soundtrack was created by the same person who wrote the soundtrack for SIX which is now in the West End, this play had the same sort of feel which i think is a real benefit as the play was really engaging and moved at a good pace.

I had no idea what kind of approach to history this play was going to take and I was even more intrigued upon seeing the set, the lighting was an unexpected aspect that really made different scenes pop. Lots of the elements were on wheels and created interesting silhouettes and shapes that the actors played around in, and the entrances and exits were really interesting with the use of the boxes which were also climbed on. I also really enjoyed the monochromatic costumes, the cast spoke about the choice of these costumes afterwards and how they helped to distinguish each character they played as each cast member played at least 4 different women and they had such quick changes that there was much time to pace themselves to get into character.
